For Further Research

Out of all my references , i do recommend those 4, since they are more in dept for that specific issue. Some researchers were done, recarding misogeny and its influence in society , role modeling and its' impacts, etc. Also most of them have analytic point of you regarding the results and the consequences  to support the evidences .If you are interested in methods , or even in more specific numbers , you can visit the Journal ones. The Third reference though is a book , (the sixth edition of it), which I personally have it in printed, but I think you can easily find it online , as well. For me that was the best source since is not only mention and indicate how music affect society , in different point of views, but obviously is reffered to a lot of issues regarding how media affect society, either positevely or negatively.   References: Cundiff, G. (2013). " The Influence of Rap and Hip - Hop Music :   An Analysis on Audience Perceptions of Misogynistic Lyrics ."...

What Experts Say II ( Role modeling)

Image
According to ,Fairclough (2015) a  "published survey of UK parents with  children under ten years old vote Miley Cyrus and Nicky Minaj as the worst role models for their daughtes". As you could  see in the previous post the video clips of those two artists , it appears to be judged as bad role models regarding their dressing and their sexuality (Fairclough ,2015). And in fact according to the "Duchess of Cambridge" (Fairclough ,2015)  both of them were considered  to have big  influence on young girls.  Also according to Fairclough (2015) , " in the 21 century , the impact of celebrity culture on society especially on young people has come under scrunity" , because as i reffered to the other post girls and even boys when they are obssed to one role model , are loosing the control , and driving their selves in  the wrong paths. Even thoiugh , when your role model , is reffering to the use of drugs to her audience through some interviews , the youn...

What the Experts Say I ( Misogyny)

Image
Since we examined what exactly is misogyny , now we can see what experts say regarding that, and if does really have impacts in society.  According to some content analysis of six types of media , has been reported that music is actually have more sexual content than any other type of media( Cundiff, 2013, p,1). According to Cundiff (2013)," rap music reduces women to objects that are only good for sex and abuse"(p.1). Also, one study that was done based on a content analysis of 490 rap songs, 22%  of them  have lyrics about violence, rape and murder to women ( Cundiff, 2013,p.1), while another study out of 403 a "sexual objectification was found in 67% " ( Cundiff, 2013,p.1) .        According to those researches, we are coming to the conclusion, that since media provide violence, as Cundiff said (2013)  "aurally and verbally  more than one in three women in the United States have been sexually coerced by a partner" (p.1). My view

Nowadays, listening to music on radio , on internet, on music videos , on your phone , Mp3 players etc., seems to be at one of the top activities that adolescents and young adults prefer to do either alone or with friends , as according to  Harris & Sanborn (2014) ,  is a “worldwide activity , that occupying between  2,5 and 5 hours per day for the average teen” (p.190).  Even , if music can be a tool of  “ mood management  or mood repair” ( Harris & Sanborn , 2014, p. 192) , such as reducing stress anxiety ,  and generally  bringing up some different types of emotions, being able to socialize with group of people that like the same music  ( Harris & Sanborn , 2014, p. 192) , it seems that the impacts of music regarding the content of the lyrics , the video clips , brings up different impacts such as misoginy , violence , drug use, etc.  In 1990 , the themes of  “violence” ( Harris & Sanborn , 2014, ...

Current event II ( Role modelling)

Role modelling can be a serious impact as well to young adults.  What role modeling is ? Simply you can understand that  a role model is someone you admire and you want to be like him/her, imiate their style, their behavior etc. (Loewen,2017). Having a role model , such as celebrities, and in that case singers might be thought to have more positive influnce to young children, but unfortunately is not. Teenagers are usually affected by their role models, and are obsessed with them (Loewen,2017). Such role models are two famous singers Nicky Minaj and Miley Cyrus. Both of them are criticized fot their sexuality and their dressing as you can see in the following links below, they are acting in more sexual way , dressing more sexy, etc. Most of the girls will start be obsessed with them as a result to imitate  their new style , imitating innaproprate behaviour , etc. (Lowen,2017). Being, that much obsessed to  role models  can  bring up more serious ...

Current event I (Misogyny)

Since, 1990's until nowadays ,violent and misogynity in the music content (either in videoclips or in lyrics) , has been increased ( Harris & Sanborn , 2014, p. 193).   What we mean by misogyny ? Misogyny is the way that they represent women , such as sex objects, that they can get them with their money (  Harris & Sanborn , 2014, p. 193), using violence , raping , torture, abusing , and generally to be victims of sexual violence( Cundiff, 2013,p.1). Misogyny seems to be a part of most rap songs since an example is the rapper Eminem who in one of his albums  The Marshall Mathers LP , in which awarded with  Grammy in 2001 , the lyrics contain extremely antipathy and violent toward women(Weitzer & Kubrin , 2009,p.3). Moreover,  that physical abuse of women is celebrated in that type of songs since they are trying to encourage misogyny and suporrt masculinity.  ( Cundiff, 2013,p.1).  Is important to be maintioned that young adults at the age...
